How to use RSS for marketing

RSS

RSS, or Really Simple Syndication, is a tool by which content can be syndicated across the world within minutes. This may be International news from the BBC website, the latest posts from an interesting discussion forum or blog or the newest products available from your favourite on-line shop.

What this means for you as the reader is that you can get hot off the press updates, news and announcements from sources that you select.  RSS feeds are received as 'headlines' directly to your PC, for example, on your iGoogle Home Page or within your outlook email programme, anytime there is a new post published to the feeds that you have subscribed to.

The result of publishing RSS feeds from your website is that your customers can have latest news, product and sale information published right to their Google homepage, or within their email program automatically - without needing to even visit your website. The RSS feeds would link directly back to the website, prompting customers to visit the website when new information is published.

We have successfully implemented this into our website, and also into our clients Taste of Powys http://www.tasteofpowys.org.uk/. So, for an example of how this service works please visit the website and simply click onto the RSS icon in the news section to access the RSS feed and get in touch if you would like us to add the feature to your website.
